[Voice / Action]

Hey there, Luceti! Name's Zack. Just wanna toss in the usual mention to newcomers that the local bar, Good Spirits, is in the plaza, and it's pretty much always open if you're in need of a little something to take the edge off. We serve more than booze, so don't worry if you're underage. I run the place, along with Shizuo and the lovely ladies Buffy and Meryl. Feel free to stop by anytime!

[Filtered to Haruhi]

Just checking in to see if you've got the details for the Brave Vesperia job. Yuri's back, so he'll probably be taking over soon, but I figure I may as well handle this one first.

[AND WITH THAT DONE... Since Cloud's arrival, Zack has been giving some serious thought to his weaponry. With Cloud trying to stake his claim on the Buster sword, and Zack needing some way to break the tension, it's probably about time to make a peace offering. First things first, though- he heads over to the weapon shop to visit a blacksmith. After that, he'll head to Cloud's apartment, Buster sword in hand.

Feel free to bump into him wherever! Alternatively, use this as a mingling bar post. IT IS QUITE OPEN I SAY.]

Good to meet you, Yea- [And immediately Zack blinks in surprise as he takes Yeager's hand to shake it.] Hey! I was supposed to look you up for some advice last month. [Oops.]

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-14 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Were you? [Well, that's interesting. He immediately wonders who brought him up--Raven? Alexei? Maybe even Firo?] Advice about what?
wingenvy: (and nobody in all of oz)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-15 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
At the time I was looking to run a guild, and I was told you knew a thing or two about that.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I run a guild called Leviathan's Claw back home, ja. A defense contractor. ['Unscrupulous international arms dealer' is more like it.] It's a pretty large enterprise--certainly one of the top five in the world.

You're part of Brave Vesperia, I'm guessing?
wingenvy: (where once was pity)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-16 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
Could be. There's other organizations to be a part of around here. [Though he's pretty sure Yeager already knows- it's not like he's the best liar, or even particularly good at keeping secrets. Still, Raven had told him to try.]

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Indeed, that pretty much confirms that they're talking about Brave Vesperia, here. And that Raven was the one that tipped him off, since in last month's absence of Yuri, Raven's the only person that would have told him to be cautious. Yeager doesn't call Zack on either point, though. Best to be cordial when someone thinks him suspicious.]

Well, what kind of jobs does this organization do?
wingenvy: (sleep in peace)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly construction, I can't lie. I think it would be great if we could branch out more, though.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
There's probably a variety of things you could specialize in, provided you have enough skilled members. [And provided they're bored enough to expend the effort. Then again, boredom seems pretty common to Luceti, given the lack of actual companies and money.] What sort of people do you have?
wingenvy: (take it into town)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-18 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, that's kind of half the problem. Everybody has different specialties- fighting, building, baking, socializing... hard to pick one thing with all those options.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Then it may be a good idea to just pick out a few individuals whose skills would be most in demand and have them train the others in those skills. If you don't know which to pick, you could poll the townspeople to see what jobs they would most like to have done. I'm sure there are some things besides construction projects that the community would need.
wingenvy: (it's a new life for me)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-18 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wish. I can't remember the last time we had a project that wasn't "build this!" or "modify that!" Man...

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ja, I think a poll would be worth a try. Hmm...and have you looked into putting together some community events? Hosting parties, fairs, meetings and the like? I do hear plans for such things from time to time, and I imagine most everyone finds them a welcome distraction. You could easily occupy people with a number of specialties that way, too.
wingenvy: (no wizard that there is or was)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
There's that, and I like the idea, but Luceti actually has a few groups that specialize in that kind of thing already. The SOS Brigade, the Welcome Center, that student council thing at the school- I wouldn't want to be stepping on any toes.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. You have a point. [He sips his drink, thinking.] Then perhaps you could think on a smaller scale? Have your members hired out on a personal basis for service jobs? There should be some need for maids, guards, messengers, cooks, artists...things of that nature.
wingenvy: (and I'm feelin' good)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-20 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Now there's an idea. It's not exactly exciting work, but it is a service, and it gives 'em something to do.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-20 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. And it would be so easy to advertise over the journals--just announce a few of those services and wait for the calls to come in. [He sighs.] It's a shame we never had anything like the journal system in my world. I remember all the different newspapers we used to have to run ads in to make sure most of the city saw them. They used to cost a fortune.
wingenvy: (and soon I'll match them in renown)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-21 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Makes the whole thing a lot more convenient from a businessman's perspective, huh. I'm liking it!

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, good, because this is quite an entertaining conversation for him. It's been a while since he's talked business.] I would suggest, too, that you try to generally raise awareness of the organization through the members themselves. Have them wear some sort of uniform or symbol--something to identify them as part of the group. That's what all the guilds back home did, mine included. It'll help potential clients know who to go to if they need a service done.
wingenvy: (is ever gonna bring me down)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-22 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, you really are a pro, aren't you? These are really good, I should be writing these down. I don't think I can pull off the uniform idea, but maybe some kind of symbol- I'll suggest it at the next meeting!

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ja, I suppose a uniform might be a bit much. If you do make a symbol, make sure it's something simple, so it can be reproduced easily.

[Following another swig from his glass, he reaches into one of the inner pockets of his jacket, withdraws his wallet and pulls a business card out of it. Along with Leviathan's Claw's name and address, it bears the small, batlike symbol (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d168/Amberspike-Sama/LClawslogo.jpg) of the guild, which he points to as he slides the card across towards Zack.]

Like that. Pretty simple, but distinct.

[Oh, another subject of interest.] What are your meetings like?
wingenvy: (and this old world)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-24 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, awesome. I'll see if any of our members are good at designing that kind of thing.

[Meetings, though, meetings... hmm...]

Well, it's kinda hard to say what an average meet is like. We hang out a bit, we talk about potential jobs, get organized if we need to- it's all over the place.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-24 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I've found it's always good to have some kind of agenda. It doesn't have to be very structured--you can say the group will talk about job offers first, then about current jobs and any problems members may be having with them, perhaps. That way you can make sure you get through all the important topics in a timely manner, in case anyone there cannot stay long.

That could be your responsibility, or the leader's, or whoever else wants to do it. It sort of depends on what kind of management you have.
wingenvy: (and I'm feelin' good)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-25 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... I dunno if we'd be able to get ourselves so organized with the group we've got... still, can't hurt to suggest it or give it a try!

[Assuming it's approved, anyway...]

...Well, I'm not the one running it right now, so I might have a little chat with the boss once we're a little more settled in. You've given me a lot to think about, that's for sure.

[identity profile] ever-deceptive.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad. Do let me know if you need any further advice--I'd be happy to help.

[He finishes off his drink, taking a pause that's more for effect than contemplative, twirling the stem of the glass between his fingers. A playful smirk crosses his lips.]

And do give Mr. Lowell my regards, will you?
wingenvy: (welcome to the human race)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2011-11-26 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
[...Oh. Damn.

Caught red-handed, huh.]

Right... right. Thanks.
