[Zack is hanging around the shop plaza, doing a little investigating to try and see if there's anything special about the place now. If the supposed portal is going to open there, he's curious to know if there's anything in the area that's changed. You might find him poking at the fountain, circling the sunken well, stopping and crouching down to check the ground beneath the snow sometimes. He's pretty focused on his work, though it probably looks strange.

Yeah, I dunno. Going from experience, there'll be a portal for sure, but I don't think it'll do what the letter says.

That's why I'm going to try to figure out what that thing is and try to stop people from going in. And if I can't... I'm going to take down names and descriptions. That way, we'll know who went in.

[Oh ho, that is a good grip.] Most people aren't so determined to watch over the rest of us like this, especially when they're new. Is that just the kind of person you are, or is it your job back home?

Both. I'm a part of the New York police department back at home. It's my job to protect and serve the people, and I enjoy doing it. [Not to mention she's the oldest sibling and frequently babysat the younger ones.]

Well, I've never heard of New York, so we're even. Probably a safe bet to say we're not from the same world.
