[Voice / Action]

Passed it again, huh. I keep losing track... wonder if it's a good thing.

....

Hey, so... does anybody have a particular day - or more than one, I guess - that means something to them? Not their birthday or a holiday or anything like that, I mean a regular, normal day where something important or significant happened to them. Could be good or bad, whatever.

[Zack's in a weird mood today, for... various reasons. He's also lounging in the hammock outside House 50, enjoying it while he can before the cold weather forces him to take it down, so if you happen to be in the area, feel free to bother him that way instead.]

Where's yours originate from? Ours is a solar one, based on the movement of our planet around our sun.

I dunno, actually. I never went to school, and they didn't teach us that kind of stuff in the military. It's just a list of months to me- I don't know how anyone came up with 'em.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
...A soldier and you-

Are you at least going to school here?
wingenvy: (sleep in peace)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-15 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. I was mostly home-schooled, and I'm not suited for that sort of stuff. I'd probably sleep through half the classes, or cause too much of a distraction- I get restless if I have to sit around for too long.

[See, he bites back a retort here - or calling the guy and idiot - because this guy seems to be a mature adult. And an adult, even if they are sutpid, doesn't need to be told as such]

...Huh. Whatever.
wingenvy: (creeping over)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-15 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pfft, don't you "whatever" Zack, kid, he's immune to that attitude. :|]

Lemme guess- grew up in a city, went to school all your life? Am I close?

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Nishinomiya's not that big, but yeah. Yeah, it's a city. [...]

Everyone in Japan goes to school.
wingenvy: (that's what I mean)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-16 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
I grew up in a little village in the middle of nowhere. We didn't have a school or anything!

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[....]

What kinda tiny town doesn't even have some one-room schoolhouse or something?
wingenvy: (fish in the sea)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-16 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, nowadays it doesn't even have power. Back then it was pretty advanced compared to what it's become.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

Power? What's up with that?
wingenvy: (it's a new life for me)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-16 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
The mako reactor exploded a few years ago. The power company just never bothered to fix it- at least, that's what I heard, anyway.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Exploded?! Haruki's eyes get a bit wide there and- what? What? This guy's pretty chill for-]

2/2

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Oh. Right. Solider.]

Never heard of this mako stuff!
wingenvy: (throw your love around)

[Yeah Haruki'll find that Zack is chillax about just about anything.]

It's a natural chemical on my world that's used for pretty much everything. Power, magic, even people use it for themselves sometimes.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. That's pretty useful fix, then.
wingenvy: (zacky knows best)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-17 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's pretty much what most people believe. It's not for everybody, though!

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Why not? I mean the thing apparently is a universal power source. I mean I can get if people get negative reactions to it in terms of personal exposure, but the plants have to be a godsend depending on the emissions it gives of.
wingenvy: (i swallowed a bug.)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-18 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's where things get kinda dicey. Mako's pretty powerful, but the wrong kind of exposure can really hurt people- make them sick, or turn them into weird-looking creatures. And usually it's kept really carefully in special plants, but we had a terrorist group protesting it, saying it was damaging the planet... so yeah, not everybody's happy about it.

[...] I guess that sort of thing would happen with any major energy source. [Creatures though? That's intense and slightly interesting-]

It can mutate people like that?
wingenvy: (it's a new life for me)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-19 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, unfortunately. Enough raw mako can turn people into monsters. I've seen it happen.
wingenvy: (I want those wings)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-19 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, no kidding. Thankfully that doesn't happen much, so most people are safe. Those are sorta like extreme cases, you know?

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, like with people's fears about nuc. There's not a lot of the extreme cases you like to see in movies and books.
wingenvy: (mr blue you did it right)

[personal profile] wingenvy 2009-10-20 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Dunno if I know that term. I don't think we have that on Gaia. It's similar to mako, then?
