Just wanted to let everyone know that Cloud's okay. He came home safe and is resting right now. Simon and Denzel, too.

Hey, uh, Tifa or Aerith, can I ask a favour of you guys?

Man, this place has been rough lately... I feel like we all need some kind of holiday. I'm baked.

I'll come up with something. [Cloud deals before taking up his hand, tweaking the order of his cards a bit.]

...this is the first time we've played cards, isn't it?

[Zack waits patiently, sitting back in his chair.] I think so. I can't remember us having a chance before.

I'm pretty good, y'know. [Discards, picks up replacements.]

I'm a little rusty. You might get lucky. [Playing, playing, blah blah blah.]

[Fast forward to the end, with Cloud glaring at the differences in their hands and adding up the points. Luckily no subtraction is require to know which one is bigger.]

Rgh. Fine. [Fighting a yawn now. He is not tired, shhh.]

I think it's bedtime anyway. I'm ready for a nap.

All right. You should go get some sleep. [Cloud collects all the cards, straightening them and stuffing them back into the box.]

Only if you sleep, too. You want more of that tea stuff?

No, I want the boys to be able to wake me if they need me. [Cloud shoves his chair back and stands and- whoa, wobble. Catches himself with a hand on the table.]

[FFFFF gdit Spike, give him a heart attack why don't you. Zack's immediately at his side, winding an arm around his shoulders.] Okay, now you're definitely going to bed.

I already said I was going. [It's just a dizzy spell, geez. You mother. Cloud doesn't move away though...it's kind of nice to have the contact, after isolating himself like he did the day before. He sure is a social creature for claiming to be such a hermit.]

Uh-huh. [Zack's just going to wait for him to steady himself, though he's not letting go even if Cloud tries to escape.]

[Cloud...still doesn't move. Even after he's gotten his bearings again.]

[Zack just tightens his grip a little, making sure he's got a firm hold. He's keeping you safe, Chocobo Head.]

[Cloud's hand curls into a loose fist atop the table, and then he slowly -very reluctantly- reaches up and gently tugs Zack's wrist to slide his arm off his shoulders, moving to collect the deck of cards. His voice is hoarse when he speaks.]

...th...thanks.

[Zack's reluctant to move, or even let go.] ...Spike, are you sure you're...

[Cloud swallows and forces a smile, squeezing Zack's arm briefly.] Yeah. I'm okay.

[Zack gives him a nudge.] Don't push yourself. It's still okay to depend on me now and then.

I've depended on you all day.

And the day's not over yet, so relax.

[Zack, stop chipping away at his resolve to be ~*~independent~*~ gd it.] You're tired and I'm tired. Let's just go to sleep.
